Who Are We?

We are wanderers, travelers, adventurers, and rogues. We are warriors, priests, mages, and thieves. We human, elf, barbarian, Halfling, and dwarf. We are lovers and fighters and seekers of knowledge. We are jesters and healers and defenders of faith. We are friend and we are foe. We are a band of brothers and sisters. We are all these things and more. We are the Company. And for us, there is nothing else.

We were brought together by the Captain. He found us, some of us lost and alone, some of us culled from the mass of humanity. Why he selected us none know. And if they do, they do not say. I can only guess that he saw in us something of himself. Himself? Perhaps herself? I do not know the true face of the Captain. I doubt any of the Company does. Is he a warrior? A dark priest? A mage? Or something else all together? I had not heard of him before he found me and in the days since I have heard only rumor and supposition.

The Captain travels the face of Norrath, beneath its mountains, through its woods, and in its cities. I do not know his purpose. I do not care. He wears many faces and has many names. He comes and goes as he wills. Or, as she wills, if you prefer. He comes unlooked for. I suspect he watches us, protects us, guides us with an unseen hand. Perhaps we are his children. Or maybe his tools. And maybe he brought us together out of sheer whim and fancy. It doesn't matter. We are the Company. And for us, there is nothing else.
